DAVENPORT, IA – On May 10, 2012, Earl William Freeman, age 52, of Fort Madison, Iowa, was sentenced to 240 months imprisonment for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. Senior United States District Judge Robert W. Pratt also ordered Freeman to serve 10 years of supervised release following his imprisonment and pay $100 to the Crime Victims Fund. On March 1, 2011, Freeman entered a guilty plea in federal court for violating Title 21, United States Code, Section 846, for conspiring to manufacture at least 50 grams of actual methamphetamine from January 2010 through March 17, 2010.

In the winter of 2010, law enforcement investigated various individuals responsible for manufacturing and distributing methamphetamine. During the course of the investigation, police arranged to purchase methamphetamine from Freeman’s co-defendant, Charles Allen. Police then learned that Freeman was ultimately responsible for cooking this methamphetamine, and had been supplying methamphetamine to various individuals in the Burlington area since at least January of 2010. During the course of the conspiracy, Freeman manufactured and distributed at least 50 grams of actual methamphetamine. Charles Allen was previously convicted and sentenced to 160 months of imprisonment.

This case was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force, and the Burlington, Iowa, Police Department. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office, for the Southern District of Iowa.
